Biography


Thomas J. Fresquez, 92, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on October 24, 2014. Thomas was the youngest of six children. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1943 and served as a Corporal Clerk Typist and a Military Police Officer until 1946. He married the love of his life, Lucia on December 2, 1950 and had five children. Tomas started working for the United States Forest Service at the Carson National Forest in 1955 and worked there until 1984 when he retired as a Supervisor Heavy Equipment Operator. Tomas enjoyed carpentry, playing his guitar and singing, keeping up with politics, and watching the world news and being surrounded by his family. He will be missed by all who knew him for his heart warming smile, his wonderful sense of humor, his contagious laugh, his patience and always very wise advice. Tomas will live in our hearts forever. He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Lucia Fresquez, parents, David and Eutimia Fresquez, brothers and sisters, David Fresquez Jr., Manuel Fresquez, Rosa Mondragon, Nacha Torrez and Soveida Gonzales. He is survived by his children, Tommy Fresquez (Wanda), Lawrence Fresquez (Cathy), Becky Marquez (Leo), Ronald Fresquez (Josephine) and Melissa Martinez (Herbert), 18 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Rosary was recited on October 30, 2014. Funeral mass was held on October 31, 2014. Both were held at San Francisco de Asis Church with interment following at the Jesus Nazareno Cemetery.
