Nancy C. Coyne

Biography

Nancy Coyne passed away on January 23 and leaves behind 4 children Patti, Nancy (Harry), Jim (Jinny) and Annie (Karen), grandchildren Tobias, Katy, Mari, Chris, Mike, Patrick, Charlotte, Matthew, and great-grandchildren Christopher, Staci, Kelli, Cora, Benny and Mordechai. Born in 1922 in Somerset, Massachusetts, she was a proud Cape Cod native. Whether working on her grandmothers farm, digging for clams along the shore, or sailing down Buzzards Bay, she loved the Cape. In 1947 she met the love of her life, Handsome Jack Coyne, a West Point Grad whod joined the Air Force. Together, they traveled to many assignments around the US, and Jack took temporary duty overseas as well. Nancy could always be counted on to get everyone to the next duty station intact. They retired in 1975 to the warmth of Arizona. In 1988, they marched themselves down to their local VW dealer and purchased a Ruby Red Westfalia Vanagon. They picked up Ruby in Germany and spent the next 3 months touring the Continent. Ruby was then shipped back to the US and more good times were had prior to Jacks passing in 1993. In 2002, Nancy relocated to Taos to be near to, and cared for by her family, most especially her grandson Tobias.

The family is indebted to Drs. Larry Schrieber and Geilan Ismail, the staffs of Taos Retirement Village Med Center and Holy Cross Hospital. We are so blessed to have such great medical care in our community. Special thanks also to Nancys dear friend, Anabel Aragon.

Nancys ashes will join her husbands in a light-filled meadow in the Shenandoah Valley, where those two are sure to get started on their very next adventure. They gently rise, and softly call, "Goodnight - and Joy - be with you all."

I was saddened to hear of Nancy's passing in the Taos News. I really enjoyed knowing Nancy, and especially her wonderful humor, while I worked at TRV; she was one of my favorite residents. I am very sorry for your loss.
