Biography


Jean Carol (Darst) Martino was born in 1943 in Leonard, Texas. She passed away unexpectedly at home on October 28, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wally and Ruby Jean Darst of Leonard. She is survived by her sister, Linda and husband James Burden of Leonard, Texas and their children, Sean and Denise Burden and Christy and Craig Flanagan and their son, JT. She is also survived by her brother, Wallace and wife Gina Darst of Quitman, Texas and his children, Kim Lowry and her daughter, Lexi and Jennifer and Jake Kious and their children, Ralphie, Memphis and Kansas. She attended school in Leonard, Texas and Mulnvane, KS. She married Bill Martino in 1964 in Newkirk, OK. They traveled extensively through the United States during the next 10 years. Jean moved to Berkley, CA in 1974. During her years in California, she worked as a restaurant manager, food stylist, and owned a janitorial business. In the early 90s, Jean fulfilled a lifelong dream by moving to Taos, New Mexico. During her time in Taos, she had many endeavors and adventures including working for the Taos Chamber of Commerce. Jean loved books and was an avid reader and she loved to travel.
